Designing CanopyCoffee from plan to presentation
A concise record of the spatial planning, documentation, and rendering work behind the CanopyCoffee project.
CanopyCoffee began as a complete cafe design exercise in Revit for VLK Architecture. The project moved from an empty brief through space planning, construction documents, and a rendered proposal presented as one coherent architectural idea.
Planning the room
The first problem was not the final image but the sequence of use: how a guest enters, reads the counter, waits, sits, and moves through the space without crossing the working paths behind the bar. The plan became the shared foundation for every later decision.
Drawing and modeling together
Working in Revit kept the visual proposal connected to its construction logic. Plans and three-dimensional views were not separate deliverables; changes to proportion, circulation, or the counter had to remain believable in both.
Presenting a complete idea
The final project was presented to a panel of professional architects. That constraint encouraged a direct story: state the concept, show how the plan supports it, and use the rendering to communicate atmosphere rather than hide unresolved spatial decisions.
